Apptainer Utils

Helper commands for NowWhat Apptainer workflows.

apptainer-utils is not an application container. It provides helper commands for container workflows.

`export-container`

export-container creates a standalone .sif starting from:

the shared base container image
your personal overlay for that module, if present

Typical pattern:

module purge
module load apptainer-utils
export-container apptainer-python/3.11

The command accepts a module key in the form <module>/<version> and an optional output path.

Usage:

export-container <module/version> [output-path]

Examples:

export-container apptainer-python/3.11
export-container apptainer-python/3.11 /shared/exports
export-container apptainer-python/3.11 /shared/exports/python-3.11-merged.sif

If your personal overlay exists, the exported image includes the persisted Python or R content stored there. If no overlay exists yet, the command exports the current base image.
